Princes Risborough Photographic Society
We are a friendly social photographic club, catering for all levels of (photographic) skills, whilst making photography fun for beginners and interesting for the experienced image maker.
We meet as a club on the second and fourth Monday of the month between September and June.
The photographic year is divided equally between competition nights, members’ nights and speakers.
Competition nights are where members can present both printed and digital images to be judged and critiqued by a qualified external judge.
Members’ nights give us an opportunity to learn from each other. This is a chance to try your hand at being creative, learn new skills or just sit and chat photography.
Six evenings are devoted to talks by external speakers. Princes Risborough Photographic Society has a long history in attracting high quality speakers, from all genre of photography. These talks are now normally on-line via Zoom, this has helped us attract speakers from as far afield as Africa and California.
Our very hands-on SNAPPERS group meet on the first and third Wednesday mornings throughout the year. In the summer months, local or easily reached locations are sought, where we practice and perfect our photography in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. When the weather is not so kind to us we meet at a local venue where we can practice our portrait, still life and other indoor photographic endeavours.
Each year we aim to hold an exhibition of members’ work; in recent years this has been during the Risborough Town Festival with the library kindly affording us exhibition space.
Going forward we are keen to attract new members, not only photographers with conventional cameras but also mobile phone users who like to share their work and skills. This is an area we hope to develop in the future.
