Snappers Group Meetings
General Information
PRPS Snappers is a group drawn from PRPS members meeting twice each month, usually on Wednesday mornings. The focus of the group is practical picture-taking and the informal sharing of knowledge and skills.
Meeting Times and Dates:
Snappers meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at Orchard View Farm we start at 10:00hrs and finish at 12:00hrs.
If we are meeting using Zoom its 10:30hrs to 12:30hrs.
If it’s a visit see the program for recommended start/meeting times.
Our Meeting Place.
We generally meet and hold our meetings at Orchard View Farm (follow link to Google Maps) in Stockwell Lane, Little Meadle, HP17 9UG. We start at 10am and endeavour to finish by 12:00hrs.
Images:
Where images are requested to be submitted, please note that the format must be in JPG and sRGB colour space with a maximum size of 1600 x 1200px. It’s very important that each image is clearly marked – TITLE of the image # Your Name.
For Example- Snuff Box # Fred Bloggs. All images shown and used in competitions at Snappers have no restrictions; which mean they can be used at the PRPS club competitions, so this is an ideal testing site for your new images!
Deadlines:
Deadlines for Submissions will generally be Midnight of the Sunday prior to our Snappers meeting on the Wednesday morning.
General
All outings are weather permitting. If we are likely to experience inclement weather for any of the club’s outings, we generally try to contact all members by email or telephone the day before or on the actual morning of the event. Very often, if we know the weather is likely to be bad, we can re-arrange to meet at the Orchard View Farm and discuss other photographic related subjects. Orchard View Farm allows us to use the room at no cost. It is therefore polite to buy a coffee or two and maybe have a group lunch from time to time.
All levels of photographers are welcome in Snappers; we are a friendly and supportive group.
We have a Facebook group called PRPS Society Snappers where members are encouraged to post their images after a meeting.

6th May 26- Exploring the Hambleden Valley
Hambleden Village, Mill End Weir and Lock plus Henley Town
With three locations to visit we should consider this as more than a half-day event.
1, Hambleden Village – Lord Cardigan, famous for his role in leading the ill-fated Charge of the Light Brigade, was born in the Manor.
2, A steady walk from the car park, across the weir bridge to Hambleden Lock and the river Thames.
3, Henley – Centre Car Park

20th May 26 - Bernwood Forest & Meadows
Bernwood Forest & Meadows – Visit these Ancient meadows.
This is a wonderful nature reserve to visit from April to early July when the wild flowers are in bloom and butterflies abound. Over 10 plant species have been recorded here thanks to BBOWT’s careful management, and it is worth just standing quietly for a moment to take in the buzz and hum of the insects and the spectrum of colour. Don’t leave it too late to visit though, as between July and August hay is cut to encourage the growth of next year’s flowers.

3rd June 26 - Coombe Hill Monument
Coombe Hill – the monument commemorates 158 men from Buckinghamshire who died in the Second Boer War (1899-1902). Erected in 1904 and standing 64 feet tall, it features an ornate design with a flaming urn and lists the names of fallen soldiers, a significant landmark and viewpoint in the Chiltern Hills.

Made famous by Beatrix Havergal who established her School of Horticulture for Ladies here from 1932 to 1971, it’s now home to 20 acres of beautifully landscaped ornamental gardens.

19th August 26 - The Chairboys - Wycombe Wanderers Training Session
The Chairboys -Wycombe Wanderers Training Session – This will be a photography session where we will be given time on, and around the pitch, to shoot players in various action shots. You may need suitable footwear for this event and we might be asked to sign a disclaimer not to use any images taken on the day for commercial gain.

Instructions to be given to members on the morning. They must take a number of shots using a standard lens (Prime type – fixed FL preferably) with no tripod. Very little post-processing to be done other than exposure – all composition done in camera – Images to be shown at OVF 16th September 26.

16th September 26 - A Two-Part Meeting reviewing your Images.
Part 1, Your take on Differential Focus – A special in-camera technique. To review your images from our earlier discussions on Differential Focus. If you recall DF is the technique where you’re intentionally blurring an image to make other parts stand-out – It’s a composition technique that manipulates Depth-of-Field. Generally. you achieve this by choosing a focus point and a large aperture. Please submit two (2) images showing this technique.
Part 2, Challenge Day images – Please submit 5 images from our Sept. 2nd event. Remember images should be straight from camera other than minor tweaks to exposure.
All your entries from both events must be the usual format 1600 x 1200 etc. With Event Type – Image Title – Authors Name. Bring your images on a memory stick.

7th October 26 - Woburn Abbey - A visit to the park for Photographing Deer (Rutting Season)
Woburn Abbey – Visit the park for Deer (Rutting Season).
Visit the Abbey parklands and trek through the park in search of rutting stags. The round trip is approx. 4 miles to walk for this event. You will need appropriate footwear as well as your telephoto lenses 70-200/200-500mm because we don’t want to disturb the animals by getting too close. Is this date too early
