We had a good turnout of members for our visit to Turville and the weather could not have been better; warm with bright sunshine and a few clouds to give good definition to the sky.
This was a nostalgic journey for me as it was the place of my birth, and although I visit as often as I can, it still stirs the emotional connections of family and the sense of identity.
After a brief talk on the local history of the place, members took themselves off in various directions and explored the village for anything photogenic, and not only captured some of the wonderful old buildings in the village, but also other features that caught their eye. Sadly St. Mary’s, the 12th Century village church, was out-of-bounds as it was being renovated and the scaffolding around the building made it impossible to get any decent images, however if you look in the gallery below, you might find an image taken a few years back of the church with Cobstone Mill in the background. I promise this is the only imposter, and all other images were taken on the day.
After a couple of hours of wandering around this delightful village, the group found themselves at the local hostelry – The Bull and Butcher, for a cooling drink and a natter before departing on their separate journeys.
