This was the first competition evening of the new season and was well supported by members and a range of images. We extended a warm welcome to our Judge, Alan Taberer, who has judged for us many times over the years. We were also pleased to see our new member Julian Meyerson. The Laurie Stevens competition has been widened to include all ‘scapes for both Print and PDI and was judged first with 21 entries. The Open competition followed with16 PDI entries.
In the Laurie Stevens there were only 3 prints and so they were effectively judged with the PDIs. The result was the Judges Choice being awarded to “Lofoten Islands” by David Buchanan. There were 4 images awarded Highly Commended and 2 images with Commended. Congratulations go to a new member, John Hambleton, who had both a Highly Commended and a Commended image.
In the Open competition, the Judges Choice went to “Fly” by Barry Coxon. Four images were awarded Highly Commended and 2 Commended. Congratulations go to a returning new member, David Howlett, who also had both a Highly Commended and a Commended image.
At the end of the evening the Judge complemented all the authors for the high standard and diversity of all the entries. We appreciate the balanced critiques given to us by Alan and value his suggestions.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped make the evening successful.
In particular, well done to David and Barry for winning and particularly to John and David as new members for taking part and being so successful.
