Well, you can’t say we don’t have fun at the Snappers Group! On Wednesday morning this week we had Miners’ Lamps flying through the air, a number of members having hysterical tantrums and a chairman who looked as though he had just received the latest results from QPR.
The subject for this weeks Snappers meeting was Flash Portraiture photography supposedly using Green Screen technique to achieve unlimited backdrops, but who needs green-screen technology these days when we have Photoshop Lightroom AI.
The workshop leader Alun Morgan, set-up studio style lighting but instead of using green-sheet he used a plain white backdrop. Members of the club became models for the morning, some more adept at the acting role than seemed natural which was a little worrying, whilst others looked on with encouragement. Individual shots were taken of each member in various poses and facial expressions – some of the pulled-faces were so good I thought I had stumbled upon a local Gurning competition. Next the Miners Lamp was held in various positions by one of the club’s more experienced photographers – I think Alun was working on the theory that if you know how to shoot it, you should know how to hold it. Once all the photography was complete it was onto the computer and the post-processing phase of the workshop.
Of course, the first part of the process was to choose the best of the images from the photo session and needless to say the process between Lightroom and Photoshop was seamless and the selection of objects using the latest artificial intelligence was extraordinary. Each image of the different members, once selected was pasted into position on a new canvas. Once all post-processing was completed the results were clear for all to see. A compilation of some 6 separate images soon come together to form one main image.
Well done to Alun Morgan for a splendid morning session of photography and a fun demonstration on generating composite images.
