Today the Snappers group visited the historic town of Thame in Oxfordshire.
This was for a project where we requested images of the town to be taken in monochrome and in the style of Francis Frith, Eugene Atget and Berenice Abbot.
The visit today was to reconnoitrer the town for historic locations in preparation for returning at a later date and perhaps earlier in the day, when hopefully fewer people and cars are about.
We visited Stribble Hills one of the oldest buildings in town, the old Alms-Houses as well as the coaching Inns of the early 18th Century. We also took in the property known as ‘The Prebendal’, the Grade II listed property, at Priest End. This was a former monastery where the fate of Joan of Arc was decided. It housed the Bishop of Lincoln in the 12th Century, and latterly an order of prebendal monks. Henry VIII and his wife Anne Boleyn stayed there in 1533. This property was the home of Robin Gibb before his death. His wife and son still live in the house.
