19-May 25 – The Albert Rigby Memorial Competition

Last night was the final competition of the season – The Albert Rigby Memorial Competition.  A total of 33 images were entered for review. These were made up of 12 Prints and 21 Projected Digital Images (PDI’s). 

Our judge for the evening was Peter Prosser whose critique was conducted with kind positive words and good humour, appraising each image thoroughly and giving all members constructive ideas on how to improve their work in the future.

After much consideration by the judge the final results were announced.
The winner on the night with Judges’ Choice for the print section was Peter Parrey with his print ‘Harbour View’. A fine view of Valletta Harbour in Malta
Judges Choice for the PDI section with his image ‘Bradford Dale’ was John Culling.

So, our congratulations to Peter and John for their successes.
A further 14 images from all the entries were awarded Highly Commended and Commended status. All the images receiving awards can be viewed in the gallery below.

As mentioned earlier, this was our final competition of the 24-25 season, and it was good to see John Culling taking the first prize in the PDI section.  John has been a leading photographer in the club for some years and has been our chairman for the past two years.  Sadly, for us, John is moving on, so it was good to see him leave in winning form, ready to take on members of his new club in Derbyshire.  We wish him every success in his move and hope he might keep in touch and let us see some of his photography in the future.
